Biography:  Dustin Houck

In High School, I auditioned for Walt Disney World and was cast as a toy soldier in the their Christmas parade.  Although it was not my first job, it was unknowingly the start of an amazing career!  As a parade performer, I was able to move through the ranks so to speak and performed various roles including a parade float driver, stilt walker, and to most peoples surprise...  a face character!  After graduating, I also started working as a night club DJ in Orlando and Miami.  Through the night clubs, I found that I was getting drawn towards the business side of entertainment and was awarded various opportunities as an independent contractor for both promotions and talent booking. 

Although not ready to leave my love for performing;  I joined the Universal Orlando family and was cast in a lead role for what was at that time a new show and attraction (a.k.a., Barney the purple dinosaur).   During this time, I was also attending college and pursuing a degree in business administration and management with a specialization in marketing.  As I was finishing school, I decided an internship with the promotions and talent booking department at House of Blues was the only next logical step.  At House of Blues, I was immediately thrown into revising contracts, event promotions, and advertising.   I must say I learned a lot!

After completing my internship, I went back to Universal Orlando full time as a venue coordinator.  Universal had just finished opening a new theme park as well as a night time entertainment complex and opportunity was knocking!  As an employee, I started exploring additional opportunities as an independent contractor and provider of entertainment.  Through those meetings, I was offered a position with Universal Orlando talent booking and casting!  With talent booking and casting, I assisted in developing, locating, casting, and purchasing entertainment for Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, and CityWalk (a night time entertainment complex that included such venues as Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville, Motown Café, Latin Quarter, CityJazz, and NASCAR Café).  I also assisted in developing programs and internal communications with our sales department, operation teams, and marketing department.  Through these projects and events, I delivered acts ranging from stilt walkers, jugglers and dancers to James Brown, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Sean Paul.  I was also the first in our department to be awarded entertainment's Excellence in Leadership Award!

Today, I am blessed and continue to work in the world of entertainment and production as Vice President and Executive Producer for Houck Talent, Inc.!  As a diverse production company and talent agency, I procure, produce, and manage engaging entertainment, activities, and projects for a host of theme parks, signature venues, sporting events, corporate galas and trade shows.

Along side a hand selected team of professionals who are at the top in their field, we develop and deliver brand-integrated and high energy entertainment options as a vehicle for products, media, amusement, and just plain fun.  We also assist with parade development, the booking of headline talent, creative costuming, theming, atmosphere entertainment, as well as creative show concepts.

Some of the acts we provide include party bands, rock bands, jugglers, stilt walkers, PowerSkips, acrobats, cirque, aerial performers, trade show talent, promotional models, thrill acts, extreme sports, water sports (water ski shows), and slam dunk shows.
